Del Sol Airlines is an airline that appeared in the 2015 live action computer animated family comedy film Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip. It appears to be a 5 star Skytrax airline.
Description[]
In the film the chipmunks and Miles takes a Del Sol flight to Miami but Theodore lets out a monkey in the cargo hold, which then lets out several animals which cause an emergency landing and bring the ire of unscrupulous Air Marshal James Suggs. As a result, they are put on the No Fly List.
Later on, the airline makes their second appearance in the form of a check-in at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, where Dave and Samantha meet Miles and the Chipmunks there and are forced to take them to Miami. Because the Chipmunks are now on the No Fly List, Dave has to drive the boys there.
The airline may possibly be of Spanish nationality, as the name "Del Sol" is Spanish for "of the sun".
Influence[]
It appears to be based on Delta Air Lines and Ryanair. In addition to the assumed exterior stock footage of Delta Air Lines aircraft, the font on the letters resembles Delta's older logos used from the late 1950s to the late 1970s. Meanwhile, the logo resembles that used on Ryanair. Both airlines also use the same tail fin colour.
Destinations[]
Del Sol is known to fly to the following destinations:
- Miami, FL- Miami International Airport (MIA)
- New Orleans, LA-Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY)
Fleet[]
The following aircraft are seen in Del Sol colours:
- Boeing 737
- Boeing 757-200
- Boeing 767
Accidents and Incidents[]
- A Del Sol flight bound for Miami was forced to make an emergency landing after animals in the cargo hold become loose and wreaked havoc in the cabin. This is not considered as an accident but more of an incident considering there were no casualties.

Trivia[]
- There appears to be a continuity error regarding the aircraft used for the Miami-bound flight in the film. When the aircraft was parked on the ground it was a Boeing 737. When it was taking off it was a Boeing 757. And when it was in flight, it was a Boeing 767. Therefore, it is not known if the airline officially flies any of these aircraft in the film.
